How we Help
Working with an admission professional takes the stress and uncertainty out of the college application process.
After meetings with both the parents and the student, Ann will offer advice on all aspects of the high school experience, including course selection, extra curricular activities, community service projects, summer classes, work experience, and, if necessary, sports related recruitment. After determining important “factors” for the student, she begins the process of building a list of possible colleges. Based on credentials such as the students high school record, SAT scores and resume, the list is divided into safety, reach and stretch schools. Information is gathered from each institution and together, Ann and the student form a final list of schools to which the student will apply.
Once a final list is in hand, Ann draws up a timetable of what needs to be done and the entire process will be organized and tackled in a systematic and timely approach.
Each application will be tailored for the school, so the student is seen as a unique applicant and what he/she has offer to each school will shine through. Ann will help in all aspects of the application from the basic assemblage of information to the more creative aspects of essay writing. Essay writing can often be a daunting job, but Ann will help brainstorm possibilities and guide the student throughout the process. Admissions committees are not fooled by slick essays that they know the student hasn’t written. It’s therefore important that each applicants “voice” comes through in a clear and coherent manner.
The personal interview is an important factor for many schools. Once a final list is formed, Ann determines whether the interview process is informational or evaluative. When appointments are made, interviewing techniques will be practiced. Questions from both sides will be discussed, and the student will enter the interview situation prepared and confident.
With Ann at a students side, the college search ceases to be overwhelming and the family and student can feel more in control of this important milestone in the student’s life.
